Tomorrow is a big day for Xiaomi, as the company is expected to launch a row of products. The key highlight of the event will be the company’s eight-anniversary edition flagship smartphone phone, aka Mi 8, followed by MIUI 10 and also a fitness wear — Mi Band 3. Not only that, Xiaomi is also expected to launch Mi Note 5. Reports now are, Xiaomi may launch a fourth product, which will basically be a toned down version of the Mi 8, aka Mi 8 SE. Reportedly, the Mi 8 SE will be a special edition phone, meaning it will be available only in limited quantities to the customers, unlike Mi 8. Until now, all we knew about the phone was the name. Now, the latest leak reveals some hardware specs of the Mi 8 SE for the first time. The leak suggests that the smartphone will come packed with a much-improved selfie camera than the Mi 8. However, in other hardware departments, Mi 8 wins. This means Mi 8 will have much premium specs sheet compared to the Mi 8 SE.
A part of the Mi 8 SE retail box was leaked on the Chinese microblogging site, Weibo revealing some specs details of the phone. Apart from confirming the name of the phone yet again, the retail box reveals that the Mi 8 SE will be a special edition phone and will have much lower specs version of the Mi 8. It suggests that the Mi 8 SE will be powered by Snapdragon 710 processor, unlike the Mi 8 which is expected to come with Qualcomm’s latest processor currently, Snapdragon 845. The retail box further suggests that the Mi 8 SE may either come with 4GB RAM or 6GB RAM. The phone is expected to be available only in one RAM variant.
As already mentioned, the Mi 8 SE will be a toned down version of the Mi 8. The retail box reveals that the Mi 8 SE will not come with Face ID support which the Mi 8 is expected to pack. The only department that the Mi 8 SE is over the Mi 8 is on the camera department, the front camera mostly. The leaked retail box suggests that the Mi 8 SE will sport a 20-megapixel image sensor on the front, unlike the Mi 8 which is tipped to come with a 16-megapixel selfie cam. This is all the leaked Mi 8 SE retail box reveals about the phone.
Considering Xiaomi is also expected to unveil MIUI 10 in tomorrow’s event, we can expect the Mi 8 SE to run MIUI 10 on top of Android Oreo. As of now, there are no details on the price of the Mi 8 SE, but considering the specs, all we can say right now is that the phone will be much cheaper than the Mi 8, which is said to come with an expensive price tag.
